The Battle Of Baccarat

Baccarat dates back to France in the 1400s, where referred to as the game of royalty, although the word, “Baccarat”, seems to have Italian roots. The origins of the game might be a little bit of a mystery, but the game itself is easily understood. Players around the world enjoy Baccarat, and once you take a look at our Baccarat guide, you will understand why it is so popular.

Baccarat Basics

Baccarat is a six deck card game dealt from a shoe of shuffled cards. It has three betting options: Banker, Player, Tie. Just because you are a player in Baccarat does not mean you have to wager on the Player’s side, but do keep in mind a 5% commission will be deducted from your winnings on a Banker bet. The aim of the game is to obtain a 9, natural or on the second hand. Two cards are handed to both the Player and Banker with their totals being added and then subtracted by 10 to reveal their first hand value. ‘Face’ cards, such as Kings and Jacks, represent as zeroes. If either first hand value is not 8 or 9 then a third card is drawn.

Your Odds

Bets are paid out at different ratios so it is important to know how much you are putting on the line. We have done some number crunching to help you understand the odds:

*Tie: 8:1

*Player: 1:1

*Banker: 1:1 (-5%)

Here are your statistical chances of winning depending on your bet:

*Banker: 45.86%

*Player: 44.62%

*Tie: 9.52%

More About Baccarat

Both the Player and Banker receive two starting cards, if either receive a natural eight, or better yet nine, they win. If the result is not a natural number then a third card is drawn, rules on this are a bit more complex for the Banker than they are for the Player, which may explain the 1% win rate increase. If the Players’ cards value to 5 or below, then they are dealt a third card. Depending on the Player’s third card, the Bankers is as follows:

-When the Bankers cards value to 2 or below they are automatically dealt a third card.

-If the Bankers cards value to 3 they may only be dealt an additional card if the Player does not win with an 8 or 9 on their third set.

-When the Bankers cards value 4 and the Players second set value is between 2 and 7, the Banker is dealt an additional card.

-If the Players second set values between 4 and 7 and the Bankers cards value to 5 then the Banker is dealt a third card.

-If the Bankers cards value to 6 and the Players second set values to either 6 or 7, the Banker is dealt a third card.

If the Player receives cards to the value of 6 or higher on their first two cards, then they Stand and are not dealt a third card.

Varieties

Yes, Baccarat gets better because people enjoyed it so much that they perfected it to their own, so here are a few we have found:

Punto Banco

Punto meaning Player and Banco being Banker, this version is said to be the original Baccarat so similarities are expected. The Banker is sponsored by the Casino or Dealer. Two sets of two cards are handed to the Player and Banker, if neither have a natural 8 or 9 then the third card rule comes into action, with the same applying. Just like Baccarat, Punto Banco offers a tie option as égalité and too deducts commision for the wins on the Banker.

Chemin De Fer

This variation is very similar to the original but players bet on each other as one player is determined as the Banker, where as the others act as the Player. The Banker then states an amount they are willing to lose and other players can either match the amount, meaning no other players can wager and they act as Player, or keep wagering until the amount is reached thus higher bidder is Player. If neither have an 8 or 9 then decision for a third card goes to players and then the Banker, a winner is then determined. Title of Banker moves clockwise to prior holder.

Macau

Almost identical to Baccarat with some added gamble, as two more betting features are available for players opposed to the usual Banker, Player and Tie; players can bet on ‘Player Pair’ or ‘Banker Pair’ meaning that player believes that the first two cards handed out will be a pair of either a Suit or Rank. The payout for a win on a Pair is 11:1, putting a lot of people under pressure to play it. If 8 or 9 is not obtained in the first two cards, a third is dealt in accordance to the rules, and if neither third set amounts either then winner goes to the highest card values.

Better Your Baccarat

Baccarat has become a betting game for the masses with such close odds, but it doesn’t have to be in the odds, we have constructed a list a strategies to help you up and even out your game:

***1-3-2-6 Strategy~

The idea behind this is similar to progressive betting on a single odds, however you are moving back to the first number on every loss of the four progressive bets, allowing you to take home considerable profit in the right environment. The progression itself, goes from a low number of 1, to a higher number 3, followed by another lower number of 2, and finally a preceding bet amount of 6.

If your bet results in a win, progress along the 1-3-2-6 sequence, if you lose, return back to 1 until you strike a win, then progress.

You start on a bet of 1, if you win, you progress to a bet amount of 3, if you lose, you return back to a bet of 1, if you had won, go then for a bet of 2, if you nail another win, move to a bet amount of 6, win that and you have made a good profit, then return back to the starting position of 1.

IF: The first bet loses, your loss is 1 unit.
IF: The the second bet loses, your loss is 2 units.
IF: The third bet loses, you still make a profit of 2 units.
IF: The fourth loses, you break even.
IF: The fourth wins, your overall profit is 12 units.

If you prefer to bet with a greater amount of units, we would suggest using the 1-3-2-6 Strategy as each number in the progressive bet sequence as a multiple. For instance, if your bet was $5, your 3rd bet (2) is $10, and your 4th bet (6) is $30.

***Your A-game WILL NOT be formed through keeping track in baccarat!~

It is the general understanding that you can keep track in baccarat – mostly due to physical casinos providing the players with score cards to do exactly that! – And turn your game around because you are going to spot a pattern that will help you score big… Here is a little secret, keeping score in baccarat and seeking a pattern is the worst thing you can do! After all, one deal to another, there is no way to predict the future card by trying to look to history.

***Keep your head off the table and on your shoulders.~

Keeping a solid mindset, rocksteady emotions, and strategic placement of your bets, will assist in maximizing your luck. Most importantly! Understand how the game works first, before attempting the game!

***Some bets you play, and some you just don’t.~

Baccarat features, 3 types of bets, 2 of which have a low house edges, Banker and Player, one however, does not, Tie has a 14.4% House edge! That is huge! Most players will not want to play with a 14.4 Unit loss to every 100 just for wagering!

***1-3-2-4 Strategy~

The 1-3-2-4 stratagy is very similar to the 1-3-2-6 strategy above, however it involves much less risk, with this betting strategy, as long as you win twice, your third and 4th bet doesn’t matter you are still going to come out profitable.

Much the same as the previous strategy, you begin with a bet of 1, if you win, you progress to 3, if you lose, you start back at 1, if you had won, continue with a bet of 2, win that and finally, place a final progressive bet of 4, before returning to the starting position of 1 regardless of the outcome

IF: The first bet loses, your loss is 1 unit.
IF: The the second bet loses, your loss is 2 units.
IF: The third bet loses, you still make a profit of 2 units.
IF: The fourth loses, you make 2 units.
IF: The fourth wins, your overall profit is 10 units.

This strategy involves less risk, with profits even if you loose on the final number of the sequence.

If you prefer to bet with a greater amount of units, we would suggest using the 1-3-2-4 Strategy as each number in the progressive bet sequence as multiple. For instance, if your bet was $5, your 3rd bet (2) is $10, and your 4th bet (6) is $30… ($5 x 2 = $10 ; $5 x 6 = $30)
